Netzer Precision , the producer of electric field holistic absolute encoders, did not have a standard product to meet our needs so we needed a customized version of their encoder.
We applied principles of precision engineering in designing and developing this absolute encoder with the following design goals:
- Improve mechanical repeatability.
- Reduce cost and tolerance buildup.
- Allow for swelling of pcb material (moisture) without affecting angular reading.
In our design, we incorporated 3-slots couplings as a step in pcb production thus eliminating error buildup. The kinematic slots of the stator are outside the active ring and rotor slots are inside this ring. This avoids conflicts with air gap and results in a very simple and easy handling.
